Grinchy Holiday Season

I don't think I can be a real Grinch this holiday season, cause I'm just really kind to animals and too generous with receiving gifts, but there are entities in this world that have the potential for being holiday-killers. Thus, let me summon them and get them to do this job for me.

And what a way to unleash them on what is believed to be a lucky day of this year, December 12, 2012 (12/12/12)!

Those doomsayers warned us of another end of the world event, well... I'm still waiting, but these guys are ready for some world-ending mayhem.

This month is purely packed with evil mutants, killer aliens and mad scientists!

Just come visit Combollector's Action Figure Collection.

Have a safe and secure holiday!

The Dark Knight Rises DVD and Blu-Ray, Plus A Figurine

You've probably seen the Dark Knight Rises in stores now. I got mine on both DVD and Blu-Ray, plus this little 2.5-inch action figure. It's already mounted to its stand though, so you don't have to worry about not having it able to stand with its tiny feet.

I can't wait to watch this on Blu-Ray high-definition, so I got to go!

This Week's New Stuff - 002

It's been awhile I haven't got into a toy shopping spree, but this week I bought two really fantastic figures that I had been waiting to come out.

Marvel Select Storm
As a Marvel Select collector, I have to grab this MS Storm and check out all her features. The paint detail and sculpt looks nice yet she seem to have less articulation, ...but I'll be talking about her real soon- probably next year (booo!). Yeah, I have to finish reviewing some old (and awesome) Marvel Select and Legends action figures that I have already planned for December.

K.I.T.T.
Now this here is what I'm most excited about! Along with Storm, this Knight Rider car also came out this week and I can't wait to unbox it. I can assure you that this one here is going to be really dope.

MOTUC Battle Cat
Here's another sweet ride and it's all the way from Eternia; it's the Battle Cat! Now this Battle Cat has been around for quite some time now. It's not really a new release this week, but just one of my newest purchases. As soon as I get all the major characters of the Masters of the Universe Classic toylines, then I'll start talking each and everyone of them on my other blog.

So it is going to be a busy 2013 for me. I'm just hoping I could cover all the new and exciting releases and those previously released action figures that I have been wanting to have. It's going to a non-stop feature of action figures.

Cosplay Philosophy

Let me share you my take on cosplay. Maybe I could be a great "cosplay philosopher" and make few good thoughts to ponder about for guys and girls planning to enter into this realm. Maybe I can help you become a real head-turner everytime there are some comic cons or toy cons, or those crazy geeky events in your town. So here are my Four Pillars to Successful Cosplaying.

1. Armor Hides Everything

Probably when you go wear a Britney Spears months before rehab-costume, then you wouldn't have to worry about those cellulites on that badonkadonk butt and those love handles. But this is your first time doing cosplay, and we don't want people think that you're too ambitious. So wrap yourself around with spandex, cover yourself with fur or gear yourself up with hard plastics because these are your shields against any green-eyed monsters just wanting to hate you.

2. Bad Is Beautiful

Human beings are naturally equipped with some kind of "super-senses" to detect evil when they're around. This is how our species survive against threats for more than a thousand years. There is something about being evil that makes everyone restless, and this is the very reason why you should use its dark powers to your advantage. Use it wisely, don't let anyone assume that deep inside you're just an adorable cuddly bear.

3. Assets Play Supporting Role

When you look upon the stars, do you find yourself somewhat destined to wear a costume of a superhero? You see... you don't have to look further into the galaxy, it is just right at the tip of your nose, the strands of your hair, the surface of your skin, the callouses on your toes. These are the assets you already have that would save you time, effort and money from going into a salon, or starting a Vegan diet. Your natural assets may be useful in certain occasions.

4. Creativity Is A Virtue

And that is how Picasso became one of the renowed artists of all time. Creativity is inarguably a must have on a resume of any artist, including cosplayers. You gotta make people say- "that's something I don't see in an ordinary day!" Try get everyone puzzled until they'll recognize it and say- "Sheldon!" If this was like the American Idol, try to be the "voice-gymnast" of cosplay, just don't get to the point of using fresh lean meat and go Gaga!

So... I hope you enjoyed all those photos and probably smirked at those things I just said. All these just came from a very well-thought out and well-observed character of mine. Until then, ...remember to keep yourself busy because doing nothing can be very hard, you never know when you'll finish.

Fan Event Attendance - 001

This time I brought photos from the Burlington ToyCon, which was held last week, November 4, 2012. This is just my 2nd time coming into this toy conference in Burlington, Ontario and I always have a great time. There are just dozens of collectible toys to choose from; some of them are overpriced and some are of great deal. But most importantly, you'll always find some of the stuff you're looking for such as Transformers, Marvel, Star Wars, and vintage toys... and others.

Yoda: Actual Size- $500 bucks!

WWE Stuff

Vintage

Toy Biz Marvel Legends!

This muscle car is like their all-time signature item that reminds everyone that they're in the Burlington ToyCon.

And as soon as there's going to be another one of these ToyCon events, I'll be expecting myself to be there!

It's Halo Night Once Again

Just two more days and gamers will experience another night of first-person shooting mayhem! That's right! Halo 4 will be out November 6 in stores everywhere. If you're not a fan or not a gamer at all, then still Halo 4 will be out November 6 in stores everywhere, it doesn't wait for you to become a fan or a gamer.

In fact, I'm not a fan myself. I just like watching some Halo gameplays on YouTube. I like how the action figures look everytime I see some at Toy R Us and Wal-Mart, but there is one that I am truly psyched about.

It's the one from Play Arts- the Gold Spartan. If you're into video game action figures, I would recommend this Spartan over the ones from McFarlane.

...and as to why I don't play Halo. Well, lets just say I am pretty tied up with all the different stuff I do for fun.

Monster Weekend: A Pre-Halloween Treat

This weekend, I will be unleashing two of these mild-mannered monsters in accordance to this year's Halloween. I will be posting photos and comments on each of them at my other blog (see link below). These two guys are my lifetime favorites. They both share some common facts; they are both not from Marvel nor DC and the creators of these two amazing comicbook characters used to work for Marvel but now rolling under the banner, Image Comics.

Despite given this nasty yet honorable reputation, the monsters, Pitt and Spawn are like fire and ice with distinctively different styles. One is as cold as the very depth of space, while the other one is consumed by an eternity of hellfire and rage. One is a genetically designed alien- a machine for murder, the other one is a powerful demon- a soldier of the underworld.

One is gonna come out this Saturday, the other one's on Sunday! It's Monster Weekend, I tell you, before Halloween!

Barbarian Hulk to End 2012 for Marvel Select

Watch out for the Barbarian Hulk coming out December of this year. He was featured at SDCC 2012 together with the Marvel Select Storm and Venom.

Marvel Select Barbarian Hulk (Photo)

As for this Barbarian Hulk, I probably would have thought of getting him only if I was a huge Hulk fan or someone who is really good at customizing action figures. I mean don’t get me wrong though; this Marvel Select figure looks very well sculpted and detailed as shown in this picture. The problem is… since when did Hulk got into this career? I can say I have some decent knowledge about the Hulk (both past and present) but I can’t remember when he started going Amazonian! Maybe in the near future, Marvel is going to create a story of him lost in the jungles of Savage Land, but I don’t know. If you’re very particular of the lore of the Incredible Hulk, then it’s not worth spending $28 bucks on an action figure that is considerably senseless.

You know who I think should be in this “spot?” Skaar! No doubt that Skaar is the only dude to rightfully claim this spot if we are talking about a superhero with a warrior-monster type persona. With a few customizations, you can turn the Green Goliath into a more accurate, comic-based action figure, and I don’t see why it’s not an option for Diamond Select to just create Skaar.

If this is not an option, then why not the Gladiator Hulk or… World War Hulk! It's gonna be great to have him do the stuff he did like in Planet Hulk or WW Hulk comic book.

I hate surprises. I am more of a “selectionist” type of a collector; I look into the quality and value of every toy rather than try completing a whole series or buying every new releases. I can’t wait for Storm to come out next month, and Venom and Rhino next year. I hope Diamond Select will do some remake of those that I find poorly articulated and lack the poseability.

Avengers vs. X-men: Comic Review - 001

Well!... it's over and finally the story concluded with predictable results.

I tell you, this comic book has given me quite a remedy to those days when boredom just conquers me. The Avengers and the X-men, two of the largest teams in the Marvel universe, had finally came into an ultimate showdown in this one comic book, Avengers vs. X-men. Now earlier this year, before this comic book was released, alot of guys were hyped about it; can't stop talking about it on the Internets saying the Avengers are going to win over the X-men because they got all the heavy hitters like the Hulk, Thor, Scarlet Witch and others... and Doctor Strange (never really expect him to fight for the Avengers). Others were betting on the X-men for they got the greatest telepaths like Emma Frost and Professor X in their team, and because Magneto is there and he'll crush Iron Man like a tin can, but this is not what we're expecting to a comic book that says "Avengers vs. X-men."

The Civil War's storyline, for me, is well-written where they place the audiences/readers under a dilemma, like the so-called "Which Side Are You?" ...between two equally good and reasonable arguments from two groups. As soon as I start reading the first and second part of AvX... or "Round 1," as it's called and Round 2, I thought it was unbelievable. Avengers and X-men, both good guys- actually going at each other, and I was imagining how both of them will probably lose in the end of this showdown, and that neither of their reasons and intentions are right.

However, the story made an interesting turn at Round 5 and 6. After five "Phoenix-possessed" X-men members (Cyclops, Emma, Colossus, Magik, Namor) started to act like power-tripping jerks, that's when I knew right away whose gonna win. This is not a matter of "good versus good" anymore. It's pretty straight forward that the good guys will overcome the bad. Also, I kind of predicted that the "good X-men" will go against their already corrupted leader, and will eventually join forces with the Avengers.

There were some really jawdropping suprises, and character appearances that didn't actually made some game-changing effect at the ending part. I won't give too much detail about the comic book.

I kind of like the comic book but I was expecting a better story that tells just Avengers vs. X-men, not Avengers vs. Evil X-men... or Avengers vs. Phoenix- AVP (or might not use the "AVP" abbreviation). The comic book has some really great artwork and overall it isn't bad.
